]]>Originally âpenny pocketsâ or âfake pocketsâ were designed to keep women repressed? "The less women could carry, the less freedom they had.â (1)
I couldnât believe my ears when I first heard this at an event last weekend in Long Beach. This WHOLE TIME we have been adding huge pockets to our PI pants, our shorts, dresses, and even skirts! Little did I know that this was part of a movement in the direction of our mission with women empowerment. It just goes to show how when you are on the right path, everything aligns for a reason.
]]>Originally âpenny pocketsâ or âfake pocketsâ were designed to keep women repressed?
Racked journalist Chelsea Summers sums this up and says:
âThe less women could carry, the less freedom they had.â (1)
It turns out pockets equate to freedom and historically women havenât had that much freedom. Before the 17th century, everyone carried their smaller belongings in bags - even men! Then, in the 17th century, men got pockets but no such luck for women. Women were forced to wear a small tied on pocket under their garments, which was basically useless because it was completely inaccessible! (2)
When selling PI at events, I always hear how happy people are to find clothes with pockets! Itâs the second thing people say to their friend when they brag about their new PI pants and it gets them excited about all our pockets, too! Now, learning about how pockets are empowering makes my heart melt that much more and makes me want to add them to even MORE items we sell.
Our mission at PI is to empower women and men to feel comfortable and confidence on and off their yoga mat. We specialize in petite, tall, regular, large, and plus size yoga pants⌠WITH POCKETS.
Â
Our NEW Short Wrap Skirt has two deep pockets? Our Perfect Travel dress does too!
YES â we tested the pockets with our cell phones and NO your phone will not poke out!
Â
The Womenâs fashion industry is predominantly run by men and they are continuously making a conscious effort to reduce the functionality of our clothes so that our clothes are focus on our form & aesthetic. (1)
Letâs not live in the past! We are in the 21st century and women are working now more competitively in the market than every before. When your pants have small pockets, they are reinforcing stereotypes about women being objects of desire, worrying more about what they look like versus their needs as equal members of society.
Â
All of our clothes have been tested on many different body types & we take our customer feedback into consideration with every item we make.
How are men supposed to know what it feels like to not have pockets when they have had them on their pants (and shirts!) forever?
Thatâs also why our bras are loved by so many, as well! How is a man supposed to know how a bra feels if he has never needed to wear one before?
Â
Where would you like to see pockets on your clothes?
As a woman run business we desire to give YOU what you want- so let us know!
Â
Email support@piyogapants.com with your suggestion now, and you might see them implemented in our next collection!

]]>It is about an hour drive from either location and is nestled between the mountain slopes and the Pacific Ocean. Since it's so close and a relatively easy drive it is the perfect destination for a Sunday drive or a weekend getaway!
Looking onto San Clemente from the highway the buildings look like the ones in Croatia with white walls and red roofs and I naturally took an interest and began to wonder - what is it like over there?
When you first drive into town you turn down the main road "Avenida Del Mar" which is where you can shop lots of local boutiques and handmade chocolate! The shopping experience is not to be missed and therefore clocks in at our #4 experience for San Clemente:
Once you've had a chance to buy a cute outfit or gift and enjoy the handmade chocolate you definitely need to make you're way down to the San Clemente Pier.Â
The San Clemente pier is conveniently located by the coaster which makes it an easy destination to reach even if you don't have a car or if you don't want the stress of driving while on vacation. Palapas line the long white sand beaches. Two nice restaurants sit on the left and the right of the pier making it the most popular attraction in town for dinner and sunset overlooking the beautiful ocean.Â
If you are a surfer then you will be in the right place! The pier creates a left and a right break for regular and goofy footed surfers alike. If you don't surf but want to be in on the action just walk the pier to the end and you'll see surfers catching waves all year round.
This place is really cool! Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens is what really put San Clemente on the map for me. It's a $5 donation to enter and the building is historical and provides a lot of history on San Clemente and Southern California. It was very informative and interesting to learn about the recent history in Southern California and why things are the way they are today! 10/10 Recommend and the views are breathtaking once you go out back to the garden terrace. Spoiler alert - The Garden Terrace view overlooks the entire ocean, town and the pier! đ

Â

Featured product: White Off the Shoulder Crop Top & Creme Brulee Shorts
Â
Everyone whoâs been to San Diego knows that a trip to the beach is a must. With sunny weather in every season, hot summers, a variety of beaches to choose from and mild surf conditions with warm water, San Diegoâs beaches draw tourists and residents alike all year round.
For trips to the beach that end with tacos and shopping on the pier, we love the high waisted shorts - they are the perfect lightweight and quick-drying beach cover up that are easy to throw over a wet swimsuit (without that sticky feeling that comes from denim shorts!) to move along with your day or evening at one of San Diegoâs bustling beach towns.
Pacific Beach in particular offers a wide variety of beachside businesses that range from surf and juice shops to lively nightclubs. Guaranteed there's something for everyone just steps from the pier!Â
Â
Â
Featured Product: Teal Flower of Life Scrunched Bottom Yoga Pants
Â
Here in San Diego, year round warm weather and a limited number of rainy days allows for the regular hosting of beautiful beachside yoga classes. Usually held on the grassy cliffs that overlook the water at multiple beaches up the coast, these classes are offered for at all different skill levels, including the beginner classes.
We recommend searching on Facebook or Instagram #sandiegobeachyoga to pinpoint dates, times, and locations as class change frequently based on who is in town. Alternatively, many studios offer outdoor classes outside their brick and mortar location, in courtyard plazas or gardens tucked behind their studio space.Â
When doing yoga outdoor, we recommend wearing our classic Scrunched Bottom since they are loose to allow a light breeze to cool you down and also to protect your legs from the getting sunburned. Our favorite feature is the gusset, or karate crotch, which is an extra piece of fabric at the crotch of the pants that prevents tearing at the seams) that makes the Scrunched Bottom Yoga Pants ideal for nailing difficult yoga poses without worrying that about straining or tearing your pants. Not to mention, they are lightweight and they can easily be worn from day activities at the beach to evening dinner and drinks on the boardwalk.Â
Â
Featured Product: Star Dust Off the Shoulder Crop Top & Turquoise Flower of Life Shorts
Â
If you like sightseeing with an adventurous twist, you'll love that San Diego boasts an active and vibrant climbing and hiking landscape and community. East San Diego offers many beautiful nature preserves that offer popular bouldering locations where climbers with gear can scale rock formations, including the Climberâs Loop at Mission Trails Park.
For more beginning climbers, there are more moderate trails in Mission Trails and throughout East County where hikers can enjoy flat terrain that doesnât require gear. When rock climbing and bouldering, we recommend the Joggers since they have 4 pockets and a draw string that ties in the front, so you are able to put heavy equipment in your pockets. They also have a gusset which allows the pants to be flexible while scaling a wall or on a nice walk through the reserve.Â
Featured Product: Creme Brulee Culottes
Â
In addition to athletic, outdoor activities, San Diego is known for its wealth of cityscape destinations that range from a vibrant downtown nightlife to daytime attractions such as museums and botanical gardens at our world famous Balboa Park.
Balboa Park was started by Kate Sessions, a botanist known as the "mother of Balboa Park". The beautiful buildings inside the park were originally created to be temporary for the World's Fair back in 1915-1927. After the World's Fair, the area was used as a training ground for the navy during World War 1 and World War 2. Afterwards, the city decided to keep the unique attraction to add value to San Diego's 1,200 acre Balboa Park. Today, Balboa Park is also home to the world famous San Diego Zoo which houses over 3,700 different animals and more than 650 animal species.Â
Now, Balboa Park is a central location where many museums, galleries, and botanical gardens are clustered around a large plaza with beautiful architecture. Dress code for museums is casual, but many tourists and locals alike dress up for weekends at the museums and to lounge in the park. We all love to pair our Flared Capris with our favorite wedges or sandals and a blouse to take us from brunch to an art museum or dinner downtown!Â
Â
From the beach, to the parks and everywhere in between, San Diego has something fun for everyone! See why so many San Diegans love living here and why so many have come or moved here for good. Did we mention the weather here is an average of 70 degrees all year round? Check out our top places to see in San Diego and tag us at #piyogapants on your adventures! Have fun!

The festival is held at the Hilton Sedona with a perfect view on the majestic Bell Rock, one of the most popular energy vortexes in Sedona. Experiencing the sunset everyday on the red rocks was unforgettable.
Â
I LOVE Sedona. Thereâs nothing more magical than waking up at sunrise, driving through the National Park, take a yoga class, drinking ice hold healthy elixers and hiking to catch the beautiful sunset. Whether you are coming from near or far, looking to relax or explore, Sedona has something for everyone.
I first visited Sedona 4 years ago and have been back every year since! There is a secret magic to the air there and the beautiful red rocks remind you to be grateful for the beauty that is all around you and a reminder to be grateful for the beauty around you when you go back home, too. With that being said, Iâm an avid yoga girl who loves adventures, shopping, relaxing and meeting new people.
If that sounds like you, I think you will resonate with my Top 8 things to do in Sedona, Arizona!
Â
A very common way to get to Sedona is to travel to Phoenix, get a rental car and drive up to Sedona. There are a few ways you can do but I DEFINITELY recommend taking the route that takes you through Village of Oak Creek to Sedona. This road is call the Red Rock Scenic By Way on route AZ-179 and itâs absolutely breath taking. You might want to adjust your plans to make sure you make this drive when the sun is up, because trust me, you wonât want to miss it! Driving through you can see several of the famous red rocks like Bell Rock, Courthouse and stop at the Yavapai Vista Point.
Location: AZ-179
Â
#7 Hike Bell Rock
If you are already planning on driving up through the Red Rock Scenic ByWay you might as well stop at Bell Rock and hike it! Itâs a quick 1 hour hike and you will get spectacular aerial views of the entire surrounding area. Itâs a great hike because you can climb up as high as you want and turn back at any time without a problem. Bell Rock is Sedonaâs most well know energy vortex and is perfect for meditating on once you get to the top. It is an upflow area (also referred to as Electric or Masculine) that is best for serenity and solving problems from a higher (spiritual) perspective.
Location: 4999 State Route 179, Sedona, AZ 86351-8995
Pro Tip: Bring more water than you think, sunblock, sunglasses and a hat. The dry heat can get to you if you are not prepared. Â
Â
After the hike you are probably starting to get a little hungry and rightfully so! Stop by the Chocola Tree anytime for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner and enjoy 100% organic vibrant foods, gluten-free and entirely home-made. If eating healthy and beautiful food is part of your travel plan, definitely put Chocola Tree on your list of must dine at restaurants, especially for lunch. My favorite is the Ginger Lemonade with the Green Goddess Salad finished with their raw handmade chocolates from the Chocolate Shop.
From growing to harvesting, sourcing, preparing, and delivering nutritious delicious food, they aspire to be present to lifeâs bounty, and invite you, too, to play in the world of plenty. Their specially selected ingredients are often locally grown including from their on-site garden which hosts many of our herbs.
Location: 1595 AZ-89A, Sedona, AZ 86336
If you getting in late or just looking for a quick snack, you MUST check out the Whole Foods in Sedona! Itâs next level! Their kombucha section is like 15 feet long and the ease and convenience of their healthy buffet bar by the pound is clutch especially when it gets late and youâre too tired to go out for a nice dinner. Whole Foods is known for their healthy inspired food, but imagine a Whole Foods for healthy food IN A TOWN of healthy people? Itâs like Whole Foods on steroids!
Itâs simply amazing and super convenience and definitely one of my guilty pleasures. You can even eat it right there at their dining tables in the Whole Foods. If you are buying groceries, donât forget to bring your re-usable bag! Save the turtles!

Ok, so by now youâve made it into Sedona. You had your first day exploring and youâre like IâM READY. But youâre tired, you did so much yesterday and you just thought you were going to be driving in! I highly recommend starting your morning right with a nice cup of coffee or tea at Creekside Coffee. The drinks are amazing, strong coffee if you need it, but my favorite part is the breathtaking view of the Red Rock canyon when you turn around after ordering your drink. You can sit outside on the patio, sipping mindfully as you soak in the beauty all around you with each breath of air. Iâm not going to lie I came here almost every morning and it was so peaceful to be able to find a space of peace in the morning, which can sometimes be quite hectic.
Location: 251 AZ-179, Sedona, AZ 86336
Â
Â
After you get your coffee you are walking distract to the heart of the Downtown Shopping area. I did say I liked shopping! Earth Bound is a fun boho shop with items from all around the world. There are also crystal shops, healers, and more in the area! Walk the streets and stop in some shops. Itâs not the biggest downtown so I recommend walking instead of driving. If you are driving, you will be in and out of there in less than 5 minutes! However, if you are looking for yoga apparel in Sedona, see my #2 Recommendation for Sedona below!

Â
The absolute best place to get everything yoga in Sedona. They have taken âYoga Boutiqueâ to the next level by opening up an entire shop next to Hot Yoga for everything from yoga pants to yoga bras, shirts, tops, straps, mat, you name it! Itâs such a genius idea and easy way to shop all your favorite brands (including PI YOGA PANTS).
While you are there, make sure to take a class at Sedona Hot Yoga Next Door and fill up your water canteen with alkaline water at Sedona Water Works.
